Who can attend the TJCSGA State Convention?

The convention is open to Student Government Associations (SGAs) from all 6 Regions of Texas junior colleges.

What activities can attendees expect at the State Convention?

Attendees can expect excellent leadership workshops, state committees, SGA award opportunities, and general assembly meetings for the entire state.

How do I register for the State Convention?

Registration is done individually. You can register through the official TJCSGA website. Expect updates soon!

Are there any awards given at the State Convention?

Yes, there are various awards for SGAs, including Student of the Year, Advisor of the Year, and Chapter of the Year. Winners at the regional level advance to the state competition.

Can students participate in committees at the State Convention?

Yes, students can participate in state committees. However, there can only be chosen representatives for each committee per region, appointed during the Spring TJCSGA Region Conferences.

How often does TJCSGA hold regional meetings?

TJCSGA regions typically hold general business meetings three times a year – in Fall, Spring, and during the State Convention in April.

 Is there a specific chant or tradition for regions at the State Convention?

 Yes, regions often have their own chants. For example, Region V has a specific call-and-response chant that can be started by anyone in the region.

What opportunities are there for networking at the Convention?

The Convention provides numerous opportunities for networking, including during meals and between sessions. It's a great chance to meet student leaders from across Texas.
